Wear Red for Wales and Velindre
27 February 2026
Get ready to show your Welsh pride and make a real difference this Dydd Gŵyl Dewi by helping Velindre #PaintWalesRed!
Our annual Wear Red campaign is back for 2026, and we need you now more than ever. With 1 in 2 of us being affected by cancer, the community of patients that rely on your support is growing.
Everyone can take part in our Wear Red for Wales and Velindre! From wearing your favourite red t-shirt, hosting a red themed activity or using your voice to champion our cause, 100% of the money you raise will be invested back into communities and cancer services in Wales.
“I felt terrified and overwhelmed with my situation and she brought a sense of calm and reassurance to every thought and fear I had, no matter how dark or scary.”
Nia Thomas is a current Velindre patient and relied on the support of a Clinical Nurse Specialist throughout her cancer journey. The compassion and expertise of her CNS brought comfort, guidance, and reassurance to both Nia and her family during their most challenging moments.
This level of care is only possible thanks to generous fundraising through campaigns like Wear Red. By getting involved, you’re helping Velindre continue to provide essential support to patients when they need it most.

How we support you
- You will receive dedicate fundraising support from the Charity Team.
- Official Wear Red event pack.
- Wear Red social media templated to help push your fundraising.
The power of your support
Thanks to your fundraising, Velindre’s work is benefiting patients all across Wales.
We are proud to part-fund the exciting Cardiff Cancer Research Hub, a flagship here for welsh research right here in Cardiff. The aim of the Hub is to build an infrastructure to safely and efficiently deliver more clinical trials in Wales than ever before.
The Hub will be a focus for research excellence and collaboration. Led by expert clinicians and researchers, it will offer quicker and easier access to research and life-changing treatments for our patients in Wales and beyond.
